LitRPGTools is a community-driven platform for LitRPG, Progression Fantasy, and Cultivation readers and authors. As an author, the platform gives you a profile page, analytics, audience-building tools, and direct access to one of the most engaged reader communities in the genre. This guide walks you through every step, from applying to be listed to making the most of your author dashboard.
Whether you are a first-time self-published author or an established name in the genre, this guide covers everything you need. If something is unclear, reach out on our Discord or through the Support page.
LitRPGTools uses a verification system to keep the book database trustworthy. The genre has seen a rise in low-quality, AI-generated content flooding storefronts, and our readers expect that books listed here meet a baseline of authenticity and effort. The verification process is not gatekeeping — it is a quality signal. If you are a real author writing real books, you will be approved.
There are two paths to becoming an author on LitRPGTools. Features and visibility for Verified Authors are assigned at our discretion after review — applying does not guarantee any specific access. Supporting Authors receive a defined set of premium features in exchange for linking to LitRPGTools in their books.

Create an account on LitRPGTools if you do not already have one.
Submit your application using one of the links below. You will need your author name, links to published books, and optionally a bio and social links.
Wait for review. Our team reviews applications manually. Most applications are processed within 48 hours. You will be notified once your application is approved.
Set up your profile. Once approved, you can claim your author profile and start customizing.
Already have books in our database? You may already have an author page created by our import system. After approval, you can claim that existing page and take ownership of it.
Your author profile is your home on LitRPGTools. It is what readers see when they click your name on any book page. A complete profile builds trust and makes readers more likely to explore your catalogue.
Once your application is approved, navigate to your author page (linked from any of your books or from the Authors directory). You will see a "Claim This Profile" button if the page has not yet been claimed. Claiming links your LitRPGTools account to the author entity, giving you edit access to your bio, photo, banner, and social links.
Add a bio that tells readers who you are and what you write. Keep it conversational — readers respond to personality, not press releases. Upload a profile photo or avatar to make your page feel personal. Profiles with photos receive significantly more engagement from readers.
Your profile header can showcase your books with a rotating banner. Select which books to feature and choose a rotation style. This is prime real estate — use it to highlight your latest release or your flagship series.
Connect your social profiles so readers can find you across the web. LitRPGTools supports links to all the major platforms authors use:
Every author gets a Linktree-style links page at litrpgtools.com/author/{username}/links. This page collects all your social profiles, your website, and your books into a single shareable URL. Use it in your social media bios, email signatures, or anywhere you want to give readers a single landing page for everything you do.
LitRPGTools continuously discovers and imports books from Amazon, Google Books, and other sources. When a new LitRPG, Progression Fantasy, or Cultivation title is published, our automated system usually picks it up within hours. The system enriches each listing with cover art, page count, publication date, series information, and more.
If your book has not been imported automatically, you can request it be added through the release calendar or by contacting an admin on Discord.
As a verified author, you can suggest edits to your own book pages. This includes correcting descriptions, updating series order, fixing publication dates, and adding audiobook links. Edits are reviewed by admins before going live to maintain data integrity.
Books in a series are grouped together automatically based on import data. If the ordering is incorrect or a book is missing from a series grouping, you can flag the issue through your author dashboard. For authors with complex shared-universe reading orders, you can set up a custom recommended reading order that appears on your author profile page, guiding new readers through your works in the intended sequence.
Books added to the database within the last 24 hours are subject to an embargo period. They will not appear in trending feeds and cannot receive reviews during this window. This prevents gaming of the system.
The Growth Engine is a suite of tools designed to help authors build their audience on LitRPGTools and beyond. Available to Supporting Authors, it provides personalized recommendations based on your current engagement metrics, social presence, and activity patterns.

Your author dashboard shows key metrics including profile views, book page visits, review counts, rating distributions, and reader engagement over time. Supporting Authors get access to deeper analytics including trend charts, engagement breakdowns by book, and referral source data.
The most successful authors on LitRPGTools are those who engage authentically with the community. Respond to reviews, participate in forum discussions, create polls, and keep your profile updated with your latest releases. The Growth Engine will surface specific, actionable suggestions based on what is working for authors in your cohort.
Reader reviews are one of the most valuable forms of feedback on the platform. As an author, you can view all reviews of your books from your dashboard. You are encouraged to engage with reviewers respectfully — thank them for positive reviews and consider constructive criticism thoughtfully. Hostile responses to negative reviews damage trust with readers.
Create polls to engage your readers directly. Ask about cover preferences, next series ideas, character favorites, or anything else. Polls appear on your author profile and in the community feed, giving your audience a voice in your creative process.
LitRPGTools supports reading clubs where groups of readers work through a book together on a shared schedule. As an author, having your book selected for a reading club is excellent exposure. Engage with the club discussion to build lasting relationships with dedicated readers.
Battle Brackets are community-driven tournaments where readers vote head-to-head between books. These generate significant engagement and discussion. You cannot create brackets for your own books, but encouraging your readers to nominate and vote for your work is a great way to build community enthusiasm.
The forum is the heart of the community. As an author, your posts carry extra weight because readers love hearing directly from creators. Share writing updates, behind-the-scenes insights, or just participate in genre discussions. Author-tagged posts are highlighted in the feed.
If you have a Patreon, you can link it to your LitRPGTools profile. Your Patreon link will appear prominently on your author page, making it easy for readers to support you directly.
Readers who are patrons of authors on the site can verify their patron status. Verified patrons receive a badge on their profile and may receive special recognition within the community. This helps build a visible connection between authors and their most dedicated supporters.
Verified patrons can unlock special rewards within the System Inventory card game, including exclusive cards tied to your series. This gives your patrons an extra reason to support you and an additional connection to your work within the LitRPGTools ecosystem.
The release calendar is one of the most-visited pages on the site. Make sure your upcoming releases are listed — readers check the calendar regularly to plan their purchases. Submit calendar events for book launches, audiobook releases, and any conventions or signing events where readers might meet you.
